Here are a few of the regular ministries and charities the church runs or provides space for:
The First Baptist Thrift Shop
This is Edith. She is the brains and the vision behind this outfit. Open two days a week, the Thrift Shop serves bargain hunters and the needy throughout the area. Though hard numbers are hard to come by, the Thrift Shop serves several hundred people each year. The needy of the area often receive free clothing (according to the season) and goods from this shop have made a bit of an international impact also, as missionaries serving overseas have been given many kinds of clothes and goods to distribute among those they serve. We accept donations of all kinds. All Edith asks is that the things be in reasonably good repair and that they be clean. The donation bin is on the far left end of the church education wing. First Baptist Thrift Shop hours are Thursday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. Other hours are available by appointment. You can send email to the thrift shop at thriftshop@hamptonbaptist.com.
The Food Pantry
Say hello to Maureen (l) and Vi (r). They head up this ministry of mercy that serves many, many each year. The goal behind the First Baptist Food Pantry is to provide families and individuals in need with the food they need to make it through a hard time. Maureen and Vi also try to find other kinds of help for people who need it. The Food Pantry is open by appointment, and has open hours every Monday from 10 a.m. until noon (except when Monday is a holiday). If you would like to donate nonperishable food items or cash to help support this work, please call the church office at (603) 926.3200.
No mystery here. This is your basic time to come, sit, think about and talk about God’s Word in a way that deepens your faith life. This study is handled by a variety of people, which gives the teaching great depth of insight. The study is held every Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. in the home of one of the church members. It is a wonderful time of learning and getting to know one another. We also have a Bible Study for women every Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the education wing of the church. The men have a study just for them each Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the lounge. Feel free to stop by for a time of digging into the word.
Alanon
Alanon meets in our church every Friday evening, providing support for those whose lives have been touched by alcoholism.
